Hi, I’m Sylvia!  I have had the privilege of serving on staff with Vista Community Church, as Treasurer since 2008.  I was born and raised in San Antonio, and have been married to my loving husband, Alex, for 48 years. After 10 years of marriage, Alex and I moved our family from San Antonio to Pleasanton. P-town, as we affectionately called it, had a small town feel and was a great place to bring up our family. It is the place we called home for many years and where we raised our four beautiful daughters. Most importantly, though, Pleasanton is the place our family encountered Jesus. God was working in our hearts and we longed to learn more about His amazing grace and redeeming love. We became members of a Bible teaching church and a community that helped us grow as new creations in Christ. The good work God began in me while living in Pleasanton, He has continued in me here at Vista Community Church.  Our daughters have each married and God has gifted us with 4 amazing sons-in-law.  The icing on our cake or cupcakes is our 13 grandchildren, 8 girls and 5 boys – a sweet baker’s dozen!  To God be all the honor and glory!

God is always at work!  In 2007, (long story short) we received a phone call from Pastor James.  He invited us, along with a few other families, to pray about joining him at his home for a time of prayer to seek God’s vision and direction for spreading the Good News of Jesus in this rapidly growing far west side of San Antonio.  (“Therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” Matthew 9:38.)  Wow!   What a privilege it has been to watch God grow us up from a handful of Believers, praying and seeking Him in that small living room into God’s Vista Community Church!  A Church that truly desires to walk by faith, help others do the same and be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.   Vista is a real church, for real people. It is a place you can come as you are and become more like Jesus.  A place we can “Gather, Grow & Go”.

Hobby:  Family is especially important to me, so I would have to say my favorite hobby is spending time with them. We love to picnic, camp and travel together whenever we get the chance.

Favorite verse: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight”.   Proverbs 3:5,6
