I could think of a million reasons why I should not be the pastor of Vista Community Church because I am just an ordinary guy from Temple, Texas. But God has continually shown me in His Word that he uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things to advance His Kingdom. I find great comfort in knowing that God can use me and you to further His Kingdom!
Background:
I graduated from University of North Texas in 1994. It was during my college years when I first understood God’s grace and forgiveness through Campus Crusade for Christ. Following graduation, I knew God was up to something and leading me into full time vocational ministry. When I decided to further my education, Dallas Theological Seminary became my school of choice. I have enjoyed the journey of following Jesus into full-time vocational ministry. I have served at Grace Bible Church in Laredo, Texas, Wayside Chapel in San Antonio, Texas and have had the privilege to start Vista Community Church in Castroville.
I met my wife Elizabeth in college and we got married shortly after graduation. We have 4 children who keep us busy with life. They are all in different life stages but we always try to slow down and have dinner together. When I have “free time” , I love watching documentaries, college football and going for long runs just to clear my head.
FAVORITE VERSE:
Matthew 4:13 Jesus said “follow me and I will make you fishers of men”
I love this verse because it has a 3 step approach to discipleship.
-
Follow me. Our spiritual journey begins when we start following Jesus
-
I will make you. As we follow Jesus… we become more like Him.
-
Fishers of men. He allows us to help others become followers of Jesus.
