I could think of a million reasons why I should not be the pastor of Vista Community Church because I am just an ordinary guy from Temple, Texas. But God has continually shown me in His Word that he uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things to advance His Kingdom. I find great comfort in knowing that God can use me and you to further His Kingdom!

I graduated from University of North Texas in 1994. It was during my college years when I first understood God’s grace and forgiveness through Campus Crusade for Christ.  Following graduation, I knew God was up to something and leading me into full time vocational ministry.  When I decided to further my education, Dallas Theological Seminary became my school of choice.

In May of 2014, Elizabeth and I will be celebrating 18 years of marriage.  We have been blessed with 4 children who keep us busy with driving lessons, basketball practice, school work, etc.

I love watching documentaries, college football and going for long runs just to clear my head. I also enjoy taking family day trips to explore the beautiful state of Texas.  When I have free time during the week, I will fire up the pit and smoke some ribs!

Matthew 4:13 Jesus said “follow me and I will make you fishers of men”

I love this verse because it has a 3 step approach to discipleship.

  • Follow me. Our spiritual journey begins when we start following Jesus

  • I will make you. As we follow Jesus… we become more like Him.

  • Fishers of men. He allows us to help others become followers of Jesus.
